Jerry Walline Retires
Jerry Walline Retires after 20 Years

Hired December 26, 1989

Brown & Saenger was fortunate to employ Jerry 20 years ago after Triangle School Service closed, and Lyle (our President) called; wanting him to come to Brown & Saenger and sell. Jerry met with Lyle at Rolling Pin Restaurant for his interview, unfortunately Lyle went to the 41st St. location, and Jerry went to the Russell Street location! ! They were able to get together later that same day! Triangle was actually located in the building at 1409 C. Ave, which is now home to the Brown & Saenger Furniture Division!

Some of the biggest changes he has seen in our industry is Columnar pads, carbon paper – were used a lot in the early days, page upon page of these items in the early catalogs. Jerry has had a lot of the same customers for over 40 yrs..Counties in SD, too, selling election supplies with B&S. Another one of the biggest changes he has seen are computers, obviously……a lot of online ordering now! Jerry has thoroughly enjoyed his relationship with his customers over the years! He finds his customers to be very loyal to him and Brown & Saenger!

One of the strangest things that happened to Jerry while visiting with a customer . The customer leaned back in his chair, the chair broke and the customer fell over backwards. Fortunately, the customer didn’t get hurt, and, of course, Jerry sold him a new chair!

Jerry’s Family includes his wife, Jan, who also is enjoying retirement, retiring April 1, 2010 from Federal Service with the US Attorney’s office in Sioux Falls, SD. He also has 1 daughter, 1 son.

I asked Jerry what he will miss the most when he retires- “The people in general – couple of special ones too, but a lot of the people – good group of people to work with”! “It’s been a fun ride!! ”

Thank you, Jerry, for your service and dedication to Brown & Saenger and our clients for all of the years! Enjoy your retirement!!

Brown & Saenger would like to congratulate all the Cancer Survivors, this is quite an accomplishment. It represents your strength, courage, hope and faith.

Cancer free 5 years!
Carol Roesler, Account Manager in our Sioux Falls location has something to celebrate about! She is celebrating 5 years of being "Cancer Free". Congratulations Carol, this is certainly worth celebrating!

We "surprised" her with a cake, a personally embroidered shirt that says "Cancer Survivor" and everyone in the building came to the celebration. All staff were asked to wear "Pink" and we made "Pink Ribbons" for us to wear. It was a great day.

Pictured here is our newly formed "Cancer Survivors Club", you must be very special to be a member.

Both Dorothy Morris (business product purchasing in Sioux Falls) and Carol have recently celebrated being cancer free for 5 years.

We celebrated earlier with Dorothy and she also received a shirt, cake and celebration. Very special, congratulations to you both!
